CBA Weekly: Final Call for Stronger Together and a Season of Revival

Friends,

The school year is underway which usually is a whirlwind of busyness and stress! We are praying for you! Lots of details in this newsletter about upcoming activities this Fall. Two of our churches are hosting revival services in the next two weeks, couples from across the association are gathering Saturday to strengthen their marriages, and we are gathering together for a county-wide night of revival in October. It has me praying that God would do a fresh work among us this fall. I hope you will pray that with me.

United in Prayer

Pray 4 Chilton continues, and there is still room for you. Sign up for a 15-minute daily prayer time and join believers across the county who are covering our churches, our schools, and our neighbors in prayer.

Registration closes this Thursday, August 13. If you have been thinking about it, this is the week to act.

Join us Saturday, August 15, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at West End Baptist Church in Clanton. We will laugh together with comedian Clay Cox (featured on Dry Bar Comedy) and grow together with Cliff and Toma Knight of Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, plus breakout sessions led by couples from across the association. Jennifer and I will be leading one of those breakouts, and we would love to see you there. $50 per couple, lunch included.

Prayer Focus

  • The new school year. Pray for students, teachers, and administrators across Chilton County, and for our churches as they minister to families in this season.
  • Stronger Together. Pray for the couples gathering Saturday, that God would strengthen marriages across our association.
  • Revival services. Bell Lane Baptist Church (August 13 to 16) and Providence Baptist Church (August 23 to 26) are both seeking the Lord in special services this month. Pray that God brings genuine renewal.

Resource of the Week

6 Reasons Singing Hymns Matters, an episode of the Revitalize and Replant podcast with Mark Clifton (NAMB). This one is for anyone who sings on Sunday, not just worship leaders. It was a really helpful reminder that what we sing shapes what we believe, so we have to make sure our songs are not simply following the trends of the culture but are rooted in the deep and eternal truth of God’s Word.

Looking Ahead

  • Celebration 250: a county-wide night of revival. Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 1, 6:30 PM at the Chilton County High School Auditorium, with Rob Jackson preaching. Churches across the county will also gather for a church-wide night of prayer on Wednesday, September 30. More details in the weeks ahead. Event page
  • Christmas Backpacks. Our churches have committed to 492 backpacks this year, serving children through two mission partners. Last year, 15,255 children across Alabama received a Christmas Backpack, and 558 professions of faith were connected to this ministry. Now is the time for your church to start praying and planning.
  • The Myrtle Littleton Memorial Offering. Myrtle Littleton mobilized generations of Chilton County believers for missions through this association, and this annual offering honors her legacy by supplementing what our churches give together for associational missions. You can give through your church, mail a check to the CBA office designated for the offering, or give online anytime at chiltonbaptist.online/give. We will emphasize this offering between now and the Association Annual Meeting this fall.
