CBA Weekly: A Week of Prayer Begins October 18
Paul told the church at Philippi that he thanked God every time he remembered them, “because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:5). That is what an association is: churches that have chosen to carry the gospel together. Next week, set aside time to thank God for that partnership and to pray for the work He has given us to do side by side.
A Week of Prayer for Associational Missions, October 18 to 24
Each October, Southern Baptists set aside a week to pray for the work churches do together through their local associations. This year it begins Sunday, October 18, the same afternoon the churches of Chilton County gather for the Annual Missions Celebration.
- Pastors, please lead your congregation in a prayer for the association during worship on Sunday, October 18.
- Everyone, watch the CBA Facebook page that week for a daily prayer prompt, October 18 through 24.
- Come celebrate. The Annual Missions Celebration is Sunday, October 18, 3:00 to 5:00 PM, at First Baptist Church Clanton. Worship at 3:00, with a missions fair following at 4:00 where you can meet the ministries the churches support together.
United in Prayer
Pray 4 Chilton continues to cover the county in prayer, fifteen minutes at a time. During the week of prayer, consider taking a daily slot. Sign up here.
Prayer Focus
- Recovery from Hurricane Isaias. Pray for communities still recovering from the storm, and for the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers serving wherever they are needed.
- Churches seeking a pastor. Pray for the search committees and congregations waiting on the Lord for the next man He is sending.
- Fall festivals. Several churches are opening their doors to their communities over the next two weekends. Pray for real gospel conversations at every one.

The Gospels begins Tuesday, October 20. The Samford Ministry Training Institute’s next course walks through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The textbook is Introducing Jesus by Mark Strauss.
