CBA Weekly: A Course on the Gospels Starts Tonight

Paul thanked God for the Philippians’ “partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:5). This week is the Week of Prayer for Associational Missions, and that word partnership is the whole point. None of our churches carries the Great Commission alone. Thank you for praying for one another this week.

Prayer Focus

• The Week of Prayer for Associational Missions continues through Saturday, October 24. Pray for the churches of Chilton County to stay united around the gospel.
• Churches searching for a pastor or staff. Pray for wisdom for their search teams and unity while they wait.
• The new course on the Gospels that starts tonight. Pray for the students as they study the life of Jesus together for the next eight weeks.

What God Is Doing

On Friday, October 9, Oak Grove, Mineral Springs and Mars Hill Baptist Churches hosted a Fifth Quarter for students and families after the football game. With a hurricane on the way, they moved it to the Jemison City Hall Auditorium, and the night went on: worship led by students from First Baptist Church Clanton, a free meal, and the gospel preached by guest speaker Desmond Jemison. Three churches did together what none would have done alone.

Grow With CBA (Open to Everyone)

A new course from the Samford Ministry Training Institute, The Gospels, starts tonight, October 20, and meets Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the CBA office or online. Over eight weeks we will ask who Jesus is and how we know, one Gospel at a time. There is still time to join: $50 plus the textbook, Introducing Jesus by Mark Strauss. Register with Samford

The Rural Pastor, a podcast and resource site from Andy Addis, NAMB’s Director of Rural Strategies, for anyone serving a rural church, volunteer, bivocational or full time. Not many resources focus on rural ministry. This one is excellent, and the host understands the unique context of rural ministry. Read more
