CBA Weekly: Pray Wednesday, Gather Thursday
Celebration 250 Is This Week
This is the last CBA Weekly before the night churches across Chilton County have been praying toward since spring.
Wednesday, September 30, churches across the county give their midweek service to praying for revival. One county, on its knees, the night before. If your church is gathering to pray Wednesday, be there. If it is not, set aside time at home and pray for Chilton County. There is a printable prayer guide here if it helps you lead a room or pray alone.
Thursday, October 1, 6:30 PM, we gather at the Chilton County High School Auditorium, and Rob Jackson preaches. Counselors will be ready at the response time to sit down with anyone who comes forward.
One thing is left to do, and anybody can do it. Bring someone. Think of a person you have been praying over, call them this week, and ask them to come with you. Event details are here.
United in Prayer
Pray 4 Chilton continues to cover the county in prayer, fifteen minutes at a time. Sign up for a daily slot.
Prayer Focus
- Wednesday night’s prayer, and Thursday night’s preaching. Pray for Rob Jackson as he prepares, for the counselors who will sit with those who respond, and for the people God is already drawing.
- The invitations being made this week. Pray for courage for everyone making a phone call they have been putting off, and for soft hearts on the other end of it.
- Churches in pastor and staff searches. Several churches are praying through open positions right now. Pray for patience and clarity for the committees as they seek the Lord about who is a good fit for these important roles.
- The Ministry Training Institute classroom. Students are finishing Gospel-Centered Communication by presenting on the passages they have worked on all term. Pray for them tonight as they present.

Resource of the Week
Are Your Church Bylaws in Order? A Free Model Set from Chilton Baptist Association: model bylaws, a companion policy manual, a short guide to the revision process, and a one-page checklist. For pastors, deacons, and church leaders who know it has been a while.
“It’s no one’s favorite task, but it’s incredibly important to maintain the unity and order of the church. The time to make sure your bylaws are in order is when things are going well, not when you are in the middle of significant challenges.”
Start with the checklist here.
For Pastors & Ministry Leaders
Lunch & Learn with Morgan Bailey, Monday, October 5. Pastors and ministry leaders are invited to lunch from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the CBA office, 1108 4th Avenue North, Clanton. Morgan Bailey will bring a devotional and an overview of TALKS, a ministry that trains churches in evangelism, prayer, small groups, and spiritual gifts.
Morgan has pastored six churches in Alabama and Florida over the past 40 years. While he served at Santuck Baptist Church in Wetumpka, the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and Ministry recognized the church as being in the top 3% of growing churches nationwide. He served nine years in Alabama Baptist Convention leadership, including terms as Chairman of the State Board of Missions and First Vice President of the Convention.
He is the author of the GodTalks Prayer Journal and the newly released Canvas: Be a Portrait of God’s Grace, which grew out of his 17-year journey with stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer.
Lunch is provided. RSVP to the CBA office by noon on Friday, October 2.
Visiting chaplain available for pulpit supply, Oct 31 to Nov 1. Chaplain Matt Belanger, a NAMB-endorsed U.S. Air Force Reserve chaplain, will be at Maxwell AFB for training and is offering to preach at no cost to the church on Saturday evening, October 31, or Sunday, November 1. On Sunday he is available for an early morning service, or an afternoon or evening service (he preaches in Montgomery at 11:00 AM). He holds an M.Div. from Southern Seminary and preaches expositionally. Sermon samples are at ChaplainBiceps.com. If your church could use him, contact him directly at [email protected].
