CBA Weekly: Counselors Needed for October 1
Celebration 250: Will You Help at the Response Time?
On Thursday, October 1, churches from across Chilton County will fill the Chilton County High School Auditorium at 6:30 PM, and Rob Jackson will preach.
When Rob finishes preaching and gives people a chance to respond, there need to be men and women ready to sit down with whoever comes forward, open a Bible with them, and pray.
Pastors, would you serve as a counselor that night, or send someone from your church who has walked a person to Christ before? Let the CBA office know, and everyone who volunteers will receive the training details directly. There won’t be an extensive training so people who serve need to arrive already with some experience in leading people to Christ and praying with individuals who may be struggling through difficulties in life. Counselors will need to arrive early on Oct. 1 to have a brief meeting before the event starts.
Put Wednesday, September 30 on your calendar as well. That is the county-wide prayer night, when churches across Chilton County give their midweek service to praying for revival the evening before we gather. Event details are here.
United in Prayer
Pray 4 Chilton continues to cover our county in prayer, fifteen minutes at a time. Sign up for a daily slot.
Prayer Focus
- The Week of Prayer for State Missions is happening now, September 13 through 20. Alabama Baptists are praying together for God to move across our state and giving to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering.
- Counselors and the response on October 1. Pray for the men and women who will step into that role, and pray now for the people God is already preparing to come forward.
- The CBA Leadership Team. They meet Thursday to work on the 2027 budget and plan the Annual Mission Celebration. Pray for wisdom and unity.
- The MTI classroom. Students are preparing the passages they will present in the final two weeks of Gospel-Centered Communication. Pray for the hours they are putting in and for the churches that will hear them.
This Week & Upcoming
- MTI: Gospel-Centered Communication, Tuesdays September 15, 22, and 29, 6:00 to 9:00 PM
- GriefShare, Wednesdays September 16 and 23, 10:00 AM

Church of the Week
This week we lift up First Baptist Church of Clanton, pastored by Justin Nelson. Please pray for Bro. Justin and the First Baptist family as they carry the gospel to their neighbors.
Grow With CBA (Open to Everyone)
Ministry Training Institute classes meet Tuesdays, 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Fall Term B, The Gospels, begins October 20 and registration is open now through Samford. These classes are for every believer who wants to grow, not just pastors and staff.
The Church Health Check-Up course is free and available anytime at chiltonbaptist.online/courses.
Resource of the Week
Deacon Ordination Recommendations, a free guide from Chilton Baptist Association for churches preparing to ordain deacons.
Several times over the last few years, one of our churches has reached out with a question we are always glad to hear: “We have some new deacon candidates, and it has been a while since our last ordination service. Can you give us some guidance?” We created this resource for exactly that moment.
