Week of Prayer for State Missions and the Myers-Mallory Offering
Alabama Baptists set aside September 13-20 this year to pray together for a movement of God across our state and to give to the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering. The offering carries the names of Martha Myers and Kathleen Mallory, two women who spent their lives on the Great Commission, and it supports five areas of ministry in Alabama: Alabama WMU, Disaster Relief, Church Planting, Partnership Missions, and Church Revitalization. The state goal this year is $1.2 million.
The church revitalization piece is the one I want our churches to see. All across Alabama there are congregations that have plateaued or declined and are asking God to breathe life back into them, and this offering puts real resources behind that work. I spend a good part of every week with pastors in exactly that place. Giving to Myers-Mallory is one of the most direct ways a Chilton County church can have a hand in what God is doing in those churches.
